Dear Villager,
As you are no doubt already aware this year is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year and I am delighted to be able to tell
you that Chenies has been selected as an official site for one of the Diamond Jubilee Beacons that will be lit on
Monday 4th June.
To celebrate this unique event we have formed a committee and are in the process of organising a day of celebration
in Chenies, this looks like it will comprise of several different events and attractions designed to bring us as a village and our neighbours together to have some fun and celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.
Chenies Diamond Jubilee Day will take place in the village on Monday 4th June and will occupy the road and adjoining sward Land from the cutting by The Bedford Arms all the way up to the Cricket Club. In line with this we have been granted permission by Buckinghamshire County Council to close the road along this stretch for the day and evening. All other roads in the village will be open as usual and a diversion will be in place taking traffic passed Clay Pits Cottages, Bedford Close and the school.
The plans for the day are currently being worked on and look like they will start with a Village Day consisting of fete stalls, a local produce market, carousel rides, classic car displays and various live music and dancing followed by an event at the cricket club in the afternoon and then a party in the evening which will incorporate the lighting of the Jubilee Beacon.
A website has been set up at www.chenies2012.co.uk which contains further information
on the event and will be updated on a regular basis as the plans develop, please be
sure to submit your Email address in the area provided on the homepage as this will
register you for regular updates via Email, which will be sent out directly from the
website.
We are very excited and honoured to have the opportunity to host such an event and can
assure you that we will provide a range of entertainment and activities that will appeal to
everyone in the village. In order for us to achieve this it is important that we receive as
much feedback and input from you as possible, especially in the early stages of planning. In line with the committee would be grateful if could send us any ideas comments or suggestions you have as soon as possible using the contact details at the foot of this correspondence.
Myself and the organising committee look forward to receiving your comments and seeing you on Monday 4th June 2012 for a fun packed day (and evening) celebrating The Queens Diamond Jubilee, in the meantime please don’t forget to register on the website www.chenies2012.co.uk to ensure you are kept up to date with the plans as they develop.
Kind regards
Gordon Ince
